Today, the President of CCDR Norte and Manager of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, Álvaro Santos, opened the first meeting of the programme's Member States to prepare the next cycle 2028-2034.

In what was his first speech since taking up his new position, Álvaro Santos said that: “I would like to reaffirm the total commitment of CCDR-Norte to this Programme and the Managing Authority's absolute dedication to its current and future implementation”.

The meeting brought together representatives from Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland, as well as from the European Commission, who defined the next steps for the task force to prepare the programme proposal, which the Member States will submit. This proposal will outline the main investment priorities for the European Atlantic Region, in line with the framework to be provided by the European institutions.

The working group formed today will also define the management structure of Interreg Atlantic Area for the next European cycle. Launched in the 2000-2006 framework, the Managing Authority has been based at CCDR Norte, in Portugal, since the 2007-2013 framework.
