Partners of the POST project, led by Eixo Atlántico and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, are developing innovative tools to foster more sustainable tourism across Atlantic regions. From integrated tourism packages to mobile applications and digital passports, these initiatives aim to implement the concept of “polycentric tourism”, aimed to redistribute visitor flows, reduce pressure on local territories, and safeguard cultural and natural heritage.

In Spain, project partners are designing a new integrated tourism package focused on the wine-growing region of Ribeira Sacra–Valdeorras in Galicia. This initiative involves identifying and connecting accommodations, wineries, and restaurants that form part of the local tourism ecosystem, creating a cohesive and sustainable visitor experience.

In Portugal, the project adopts a supramunicipal approach, linking the municipalities of Braga, Terras de Bouro, Barcelos, Esposende, Amares, and Vila Verde into a single route. The proposal includes a brochure and a mobile application featuring detailed points of interest and interactive photo booths. A digital passport system will allow visitors to collect location-based stamps throughout the route; once completed, participants will receive a digital certificate, enhancing engagement while encouraging exploration across the territory.

Meanwhile, partners in Bretagne and Nouvelle-Aquitaine are developing micro-adventure tourism packages focused on iconic locations. These initiatives also explore the promotion of natural bathing areas in the region’s rivers, offering sustainable and nature-based tourism alternatives.

Together, these actions demonstrate how transnational cooperation can drive innovative, sustainable tourism solutions tailored to the unique characteristics of Atlantic regions.
