This week, members of the ARMA Network, a platform of Atlantic Region Managing Authorities led by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, met online to exchange updates on ongoing European programmes supporting regional investment across the Atlantic Area and to reflect on the future of European macro-regional strategies.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present a catalogue of 15 flagship projects funded by Interreg programmes across the European Atlantic regions. These projects align with the priorities endorsed by the European Council in September 2025. Participants also received an update on the “Young Voices for the Atlantic” consultation, which is currently underway to help lay the foundations for a potential Atlantic Youth Platform.
In addition, ARMA Network members welcomed a representative from the European Commission, who outlined the methodology for structuring the development of the future Atlantic Maritime Macro-region. This follows the European Council’s decision to establish the new strategy by June 2027. The European Commission has already engaged stakeholders from the Atlantic Maritime Strategy and representatives from the four Atlantic Member States: France, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain. Lessons learned from existing macro-regional strategies will also inform the process.
