The Port of Seville has received the Corredores 2026 Prize in the Sustainability category in recognition of its contribution to advancing hydrogen-powered mobility through HYDEA, a project led by ITG | Centro Tecnológico and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme. The award was presented by the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, ADIF, and the Commissioners for the Atlantic and Mediterranean Corridors. It highlights the Port of Seville’s commitment to innovation and decarbonisation within the transport and logistics sector.
The recognition is linked to the deployment of the ‘H2Tractor’, a hydrogen-powered terminal tractor developed by the Seville-based engineering company EVO. Designed to support more sustainable port operations, the vehicle integrates advanced technologies including cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence and 5G connectivity. These features enhance operational efficiency and availability while significantly reducing emissions, contributing to the decarbonisation goals of the transport sector.
In March 2026, the H2Tractor was successfully tested in real operating conditions at the Guadalquivir Maritime Terminal, located at the Batán Dock in the Port of Seville. The pilot trials demonstrated the potential of hydrogen-based solutions to transform port logistics and accelerate the transition towards cleaner transport systems.
The Corredores 2026 Prizes were presented during SIL 2026, Southern Europe’s leading trade fair for logistics, transport and supply chain management, held in Barcelona from 3 to 5 June. This award underlines the role of Interreg Atlantic Area-supported projects such as HyDEA in fostering innovative, low-carbon technologies and supporting the transition to a more sustainable and competitive Atlantic region.
