The BEAP-MAR project, led by the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Santiago de Compostela and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, invites organisations to express their interest in hosting one of eight Product Tests based on bioactive compounds extracted from non-traditionally commercially exploited marine organisms.

The deadline for online submissions is 29 April. The selection process will be carried out by one representative from each national partner:
Spain: University of Santiago de Compostela
Ireland: University of Galway
Portugal: Polytechnic Institute of Leiria
France: French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA)

This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for SMEs and other organisations to test innovative solutions developed through the BEAP-MAR project in a real-world setting. The Product Tests will focus on the following key areas:
Marine ingredients for cosmetics
Exploring natural compounds from the sea that can protect the skin, fight ageing, and act as antioxidants—supporting the development of sustainable, high-value cosmetic products.

Tools for early-stage drug discovery
Using advanced sensing technology to quickly and accurately assess how marine compounds interact with key biological targets, helping identify promising candidates for pharmaceutical development.

Eco-friendly antifouling solutions
Identifying natural marine compounds that prevent the build-up of organisms on submerged surfaces, contributing to more sustainable coatings for ships and marine infrastructure.

Measuring cellular energy and metabolism
Analysing how bioactive compounds affect cell energy production and metabolism, providing insights for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications.

Unlocking value from seaweed compounds
Identifying beneficial molecules in brown seaweeds, particularly those with anti-inflammatory properties, to support their use in industrial applications.

Discovery of neuroactive marine compounds
Finding marine-derived compounds that interact with the nervous system, with potential applications in health and pharmaceutical innovation.
