Summary
The main challenge addressed by SED'UP is to shift the prevailing perception and management of marine sediments - from a material traditionally treated as waste - to a valuable resource within a circular-economy framework. The project’s overarching objective is to foster synergies that enable viable reuse pathways for marine sediments in the Atlantic Region, particularly benefiting maritime and port communities, and to demonstrate their significant potential as a sustainable local resource.

By integrating scientific research with innovative solutions selected through an open call, and a policy-driven approach, SED'UP will test sediment-reuse applications at pilot sites such as the Port of Cork in Ireland and Morlaix in France. To support the scaling of these solutions into market-ready applications and circular strategies, the partnership will offer capacity-building, mentoring, and business incubation services for the selected solution providers.
