After selecting 11 innovative technologies in the field of maritime decarbonisation, the SmartDec project – led by Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme – will host a workshop designed to foster collaboration between innovators and key maritime stakeholders, including ports, shipbuilders, and energy operators.

The workshop will take place on 25 November, from 11:45 to 13:30, during the Business2Sea 2025 event at the Port of Leixões, in Matosinhos (Portugal).

Of the 11 selected ideas currently benefiting from the SmartDec acceleration programme, seven will be showcased during the workshop, providing a starting point for discussions on the future of sustainable maritime transport. These innovations include, for example, compact and silent micro wind turbine systems, electric and hydrogen-powered catamarans, and hybrid solar–wind propulsion wings.

The SmartDec partners also aim to use this workshop to support the creation of a Network of Atlantic Hubs in the maritime transport sector, encouraging the exchange of promising ideas, tools, and technologies among regions in France, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain.
