The DIBEST project, led by the Irish organisation Western Development Commission and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, has been recognised at the Sun&Blue Awards, achieving 3rd place in the category “Cooperation in the Blue Economy”.
Promoted by Beon Agency under the framework of the Sun&Blue Congress in Almería, Spain, the Sun&Blue Awards aim to consolidate this event as a leading forum for the blue economy and coastal tourism.
DIBEST was distinguished for its work in supporting small businesses to advance digital innovation in the Blue Economy (such as fisheries and marine-related activities) and in Sustainable Tourism (including tourist accommodation, cultural activities, and transport services). The selected entrepreneurs have participated in a mentoring and training programme covering topics such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.
In the category “Cooperation in the Blue Economy”, the projects Spanish Network of Blue Schools – Blue Schools Cluster and The Sea as a Living Laboratory were also awarded, for activities developed in the Balearic Islands and in the Dominican Republic, respectively.
