The SEALabHaus project, led by the Universidade da Coruña and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, has selected five pilot initiatives to take part in a mentorship programme aligned with the New European Bauhaus (NEB) values. These pilots are developing sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetic solutions across Atlantic coastal regions and will benefit from tailored support provided by NEB experts.

Over the coming months, the selected pilots will receive a NEB Canvas to guide their development, take part in international exchanges of experience, attend training sessions, and gain increased visibility through the European SEALabHaus online platform.

Based across all Member States of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, the pilots address a wide range of themes, including material reuse, urban regeneration, sports, and ocean literacy. Discover more about each pilot below.

Project Name: Creative Laneways

Lead Organisation: Wexford Tidy Towns Group (Ireland)

Creative Laneways is a placemaking and cultural engagement project aiming to revitalise the historical laneways of Wexford Town through mosaic and mural artworks. With a strong focus on community inclusion, particularly engaging new communities in Wexford, the project blends artistic expression, urban beautification and cultural heritage to promote sustainable and inclusive regeneration of shared public space.

Project Name: Orixe Salgada

Lead Organisation: Orixe Salgada SL (Spain)

Orixe Salgada is a Galician circular-economy biotech initiative that upcycles beach-cast seaweed (argazo) collected from shorelines, often treated as a waste stream with environmental impacts and management costs, into high-value natural raw materials, working in coordination with local fishing guilds and stakeholders. Its approach relies on a physical processing pathway designed to preserve bioactive compounds and use 100% of the resource, generating functional fractions (e.g., water-soluble polysaccharides and insoluble fibres) for multiple applications, with a currentemphasis on Salgada Bio as agricultural biostimulants.

Project Name: TRIUMPH

Lead Organisation: Ingrid Camprubí (Multidisciplinary Designer/Researcher) (Spain)

TRIUMPH (Towards Resilience In Underwater and Marine Practices & Heritage) is a hybrid design-research initiative focused on reimagining local relationships with the ocean through storytelling, intergenerational knowledge, and co-creation. It seeks to reconnect coastal communities with maritime traditions while advancing contemporary ecological awareness and stewardship.

Project Name: GEOCERAMICS

Lead Organisation: Design Lab Transitions (France)

GEOCERAMICS is an innovative project, led by young designers, that aims to develop new ceramic recipes using underutilised materials from human activities along the Finistere coastline (fish farms, seafood, construction clay, etc.). By transforming these local resources, the project creates unique, geolocatable artefacts that embody the aesthetic, geological, social, cultural, and economic dimensions of the region for coastal tourism. Each piece becomes a tangible expression of local identity and artisanal expertise.
