SaferSEA, a project supported by Interreg Atlantic Area, has launched the second phase of its open innovation call for maritime projects. This call is designed to identify and support innovative technological solutions to challenges across three critical fields:
Decarbonisation – issues related to the transition to new fuels and energies for ships
Pollution – problems involving marine pollution, such as oil spills, plastic waste, ballast water management, bilge water treatment and loss of containers at sea
Safety at Sea – challenges related to maritime traffic management, reduction of collisions, rescue of persons in distress.
The primary aim is to foster the development of cutting-edge tools, systems, and platforms that contribute to a more sustainable and safer maritime sector across the Atlantic Area.
Selected Challenges:
- QUIETSEA – Quantifying Underwater Impacts and Ecological Trends in Soundscapes of the Atlantic
- Decarbonising port activity and mitigating gas emissions to combat climate change and improve air quality
- BlueCycle Nexus – Turning Maritime Waste into Opportunity
- Sea Vision AI
- Automatic spill detection system
- Spill removal system
Who can apply?
This call is open to a range of innovation stakeholders developing technological solutions that can be applied or replicated in the maritime sector. Eligible applicants include Startups, SMEs, technological centres, research laboratories, engineering firms and other relevant entities.
The selected beneficiaries will be supported by the SaferSea partnership with demonstration actions and application procedures to National or European funds for the development of the solution.
Deadline for submission: July 31, 2025, 12.00 CET
