ENEPORTS, a project supported by Interreg Atlantic Area programme, has been featured as an Atlantic Success Story on the European Commission’s Atlantic Maritime Strategy platform, for its significant contribution to the green transition of Atlantic ports.
The project represents a significant step in transforming Atlantic ports into digitalised green energy hubs. With three pilot projects in Spain, ENEPORTS aligned its work with European Energy efficiency standards, setting a strong example for sustainable port development.
The project’s results are clear and impactful. it developed methodological approaches for implementing innovative renewable energy solutions in different ports in Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland. These approaches are designed to be replicable and adaptable, ensuring long-term benefits for other maritime regions.
One of ENEPORT’s key outcomes is the creation of a methodological tool for port authorities, enabling them to assess their decarbonization strategies. This tool provides metrics to evaluate progress in terms of sustainability and energy transition, supporting data-driven decision making in the path toward climate neutrality.
By equipping port stakeholders with practical tools and fostering transnational cooperation, ENEPORTS has strengthened the capacity of Atlantic ports to lead in the green transition, not only adapting to environmental challenges but actively shaping a more sustainable maritime future.
