From 10 to 12 June 2025, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) under the theme “Powering a fair and competitive green transition” brings together Europe’s energy stakeholders in Brussels and online to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, safer and more efficient future.
Interreg programmes are central to this transition, by energising Europe with a total of 258 million invested, 32 programmes, and more than 100 ongoing projects involving more than 750 partners across borders.
Among the Interreg programmes showcased this year, Interreg Atlantic Area is participating with SAtComm – Sustainable Atlantic Communities. The project shows how citizens and small businesses can lead the clean energy transition. The partnership empowers communities in France, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain to become active energy participants: producing, consuming, and trading their own renewable energy locally. Through pilot initiatives in rural and coastal areas, the project is testing solutions for smarter and cleaner energy systems.
As EUSEW 2025 continues to spotlight innovative energy solutions and engage new generations of energy leaders, projects like SAtComm ensure that citizens, communities, and SMEs have a central role in powering Europe’s green future.
