Upcoming 4th Call for Proposals

The Interreg Atlantic Area Programme is preparing the launch of its 4th Call for Proposals, in line with the indicative timetable. Current information, including provisional timing and indicative financial allocations, is provided for guidance purposes. The call will support transnational cooperation projects across the Atlantic Area. Following its adoption, all application and guidance documents will be published on the Programme website. An information session for applicants and stakeholders will also be organised and announced in due course.

SAVE THE DATE | Blue Synergies event
on 15 September in Las Palmas

On 15 September, the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, together with the Atlantic Stakeholders Platform and the Interact Programme, will organise a Blue Synergies event at the University of Las Palmas focused on youth engagement in Atlantic cooperation. Building on the Young Voices for the Atlantic consultation, the session will explore the creation of a long-term youth exchange platform to strengthen young people’s participation and contribution to cooperation across the Atlantic area.

European Commission presents AGEO with RegioStars 2025 digital certificates

The European Commission presented the REGIOSTARS 2025 certificates and plaque to the AGEO - Atlantic Geohazard Risk Management partners and to CCDR Norte in Lisbon on 20 May. The award recognised AGEO’s innovative approach to geological risk management through an app connecting scientists, communities and policymakers. Led by the Instituto Superior Técnico, the project helps citizens address hazards such as floods, landslides and coastal erosion across the Atlantic Region.

Algae as an exceptional catalyst
for sustainable transformation

Led by the University of Vigo and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, the MARINNONET Project is turning algae research into practical, sustainable solutions through six pilot initiatives linking researchers, businesses, and innovation partners. Recognised as strategic renewable marine resources, algae support Europe’s climate neutrality and circular bioeconomy ambitions. They grow without freshwater or arable land and offer applications in aquaculture, carbon capture, biomaterials, cosmetics, and alternatives to chemicals.

Local innovation roadmaps
for the fisheries ecosystem

Supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, the FISHINN Project is advancing local innovation roadmaps across four Atlantic pilot areas: Lea-Artibai, Cornouaille Saint-Guénolé-Penmarc’h, Sines, and County Kerry. Presented at the FISHINN Transnational Innovation Forum in Brittany, the roadmaps promote stronger fisheries value chains, innovation, skills development, and collaboration. Initiatives include seafood product innovation, blue economy hubs, fishing tourism, startup support, and improving commercial opportunities and talent attraction within coastal fisheries communities.
