Optimising Algal Value Chains in the Atlantic Region |
|
On 26 November, the Biotechnology Pole of Galicia hosted the kick-off meeting of the Biochains Atlantic project, launched for optimising algal value chains in the Atlantic Region. This first meeting allowed the project partners, led by the Spanish institution Bioga, to coordinate their efforts and define the implementation plan.

Climate Resilience and Adaptation in Aquaculture |

On 29 October, the lead partner of CLIRAQUA project, CICA, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry and Biology of Coruña University, in Galicia, hosted the project's kick-off meeting. The first meeting allowed to plan the activities for the upcoming months, focusing on a digital repository with climate projections, interactive vulnerability maps, adaptive management protocols and an early warning system for diseases. |

Accelerating the Industrialisation of Floating Offshore Wind |
|
On 24 November, the HiPoTeSis partners met online in a first kick-off meeting to introduce the project key figures and plan the first steps according to the work plan. Led by the French institution Fondation OPEN-C, the project brings together institutions from Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland to accelerate the industrialisation of floating offshore wind by enhancing cooperation between European test sites. |

ResilCrops launched to promote a more sustainable agriculture in the Atlantic Region |
|
The ResilCrops project, led by the Spanish Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA&IPLA-CSIC), was officially launched last 30 October in the city of La Laguna (Islas Canarias, Spain). The project aims to foster knowledge transfer and promote the efficient use of natural resources for a more sustainable and resilient agriculture. |

Andalusia hosts the kick-off meeting of the Rivers-Rest project |
|
Partners of the Rivers-Rest project, led by ARECIAR (Agencia de Régimen Especial Ciclo Integral Aguas del Retortillo), chose the Spanish Region of Andalusia for the kick-off meeting of the project. The two-day meeting (14 and 15 October) included a detailed review of each partner's commitments, activities and goals, as well as visits to pilot locations like Doñana National Park and the banks of Río Blanco, in the countryside of the autonomous community of Andalusia. |

SMACC+ Sustainable Cosmeceutical and Nutraceutical Production |
|
On 18 November, the lead partner of SMACC+, CINBIO, the Centre for Research in Nanomaterials and Biomedicine at the University of Vigo, hosted the project's kick-off meeting. The project aims to tackle unsustainable practices and the environmental impact of current cosmeceutical and nutraceutical ingredient production. By utilising bioactives and biopolymers derived from microalgae, the project proposes innovative, low-impact methods to produce high-value ingredients. These methods aim to replace synthetic additives, reduce water usage, and minimise waste. |

Tackling plastic pollution in rivers before it reaches the ocean |
|
On 20-21 November, the European project TRAP - Freeing Our Rivers from Plastics was officially launched with a kick-off meeting in Lisbon and Coruche (Portugal). The partnership included a visit to a project pilot site, on the banks of the Sorraia River, the Portuguese tributary of the Tejo River with the largest hydrographic basin. Aiming at tackling plastic pollution in rivers, the goal of TRAP is to develop guidelines for the installation of devices in rivers and estuaries, using an approach that combines digital tools, nature-based solutions, and community engagement to capture and retain plastics. |

The ADT4Blue project, endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade, has launched its Third Call to support entrepreneurs developing digital and sustainable solutions within key sectors of the Blue Economy. ADT4Blue's goal is to assist early-stage companies in developing and scaling impactful technologies across the Atlantic regions. Deadline: 30 December. |
