SED’UP project proposes to give marine sediments a second life |
|
On 4–5 December, the University of Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) hosted the SED'UP project kick-off at the Brest-Morlaix IUT. The project aims to strengthen the circular economy in the Atlantic Region by transforming dredged port sediments into resources for sustainable construction. Aligned with key EU policies, SED’UP will develop innovative solutions through pilot sites in Cork (Ireland) and Morlaix (France).

Impact4Mar project officially launched in Athlone |

The Impact4Mar project was officially launched on 14–15 January 2026 during a hybrid kick-off meeting in Athlone, Ireland, hosted by lead partner Technological University of Shannon. Project partners aligned on objectives, methodologies and work packages focused on sustainability analysis, tool development for maritime SMEs, and result uptake. The project has now begun stakeholder mapping and interview preparation. |

Pilots aligned with the New European Bauhaus selected by SEALabHaus |
|
The SEALabHaus project, led by the University of Coruña and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, has selected five pilot initiatives for a mentorship programme aligned with New European Bauhaus values. Based across all Member States of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, the pilots address a wide range of themes, including material reuse, urban regeneration, sports, and ocean literacy. |

Tracking fish without nets in the Mondego Estuary |
|
The DiadSea project, led by Universidade de Évora, conducted its first experimental environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling in Portugal’s Mondego River estuary to help monitor shad populations and address data gaps on diadromous fish. Using a non-invasive method, researchers aim to support transnational solutions for conserving migratory species vulnerable to climate change, with the support of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme and endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade. |

The Blue Shuttle project, led by Fundación CEEI Bahía de Cádiz and supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, has launched a survey to assess the digital maturity of Blue Economy businesses in the Atlantic Region. It identifies each company’s digitalisation level and priority improvement areas. Results provide an objective perspective on where to begin digitalisation efforts to achieve maximum impact within the blue bioeconomy sector. |
