Personal Data Protection
In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, which entered into force on 25 May 2018, the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme is committed to the user privacy and has taken all safety measures required to protect your personal data. You can browse through most parts of this website without giving any information about yourself.
What is personal data?
Personal data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable living individual. Different pieces of information, which collected together can lead to the identification of a particular person, also constitute personal data.

How do we collect information?
The Interreg Atlantic Area only collects personal information when you register on the Atlantic Area Community Member by filling out and submitting the online form.
When you register you are asked for information such as your first name, last name and e-mail address. If you are in possession of a username and password, the Interreg Atlantic Area Management and Information System may collect information about your logins and the documents you retrieve from the system.
What are the legal bases?
Article 12 and 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 127 April 2016 (Processing of personal data and the free movement of such data).
Article 115 and 123 of Regulation (EU) 1303/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013 (Common Provision Regulation).
Article 8 of Regulation (EU) 1011/2014 of 22 September 2014 (Laying down detailed rules for implementing Regulation (EU) 1303/2013).

How and why do we treat your personal data?
If you have demonstrated your interest in receiving the programme newsflash and infomails, we will only use your personal information to send you the programme regular updates according to your consent, namely related with:
- the promotion of funding opportunity to potential beneficiaries,
- the support beneficiaries in all phases of project lifecycle,
- the promotion of the benefits of transnational cooperation.
You can revoke your agreement any time by contacting us by post or email.
For beneficiaries of a EU-funded project, in compliance with Article 13 of Subsidy Contract, the Programme authorities have the rights to publish, in any and by any means, the information related with the project representatives name and email address.
The provision of personal data is a legal requirement, if you are thereby claiming the disbursement of funds.
Providing personal data is required for the conclusion of a contract.
A refusal to grant contractual consent to the use of personal data and to obtaining such consent from all persons involved in the granted project for the purpose of verifying eligibility for funding would at any rate lead to the funding of personnel costs being denied. Dependent on the project structure, this may even include a revocation of the funding commitment.
In compliance with legal requirement of Regulation (EU) n. º 1303/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013, your personal data relating to EU-funded projects in the structural fund period 2014-2020 are deleted after the statutory retention period.
Who has access to your personal data?
The mentioned data are stored within the Interreg Atlantic Area database and may be shared among other Programme bodies. All data collected and shared with these bodies is used only for purposes of the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme implementation and only to the extent it is necessary to fulfil those purposes. Interreg Atlantic Area does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you to third parties (countries which are not member of the European Union).
Access to the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme database is limited to operatives, control bodies, and evaluators who have committed themselves to confidentiality. The IT Company that provides technical support to the Management and Information System and website is also bounded by a confidentiality agreement.
